Web Tracker

Tracking the activity of prospects, leads and customers across your entire website is obviously an important task and when implemented, it opens up a world of automation possibilities. While we also provide the ability to make individual Trackers for link clicks and even views, the most effective method to track all web activity is by placing a Web Tracker on your site.

In this article you will learn how to find your unique Web Tracker code, customize it (optional) and install on your own web site to start collecting essential data for your marketing campaigns.

To create and user a Web Tracker, you will need:

  • A web site on which to place the Web Tracker

Note: Web Trackers are Project based, so if you have created more than one Project in your Womplify account, make sure to use the Web Tracker specific to that Project.

How to Generate Your Web Tracker Code

  1. On the left menu, click Settings and then Web Tracker (see Figure 1).
  2. On the Web Tracker page, enable/disable the following options:
    Track Page Views: this enables the Web Tracker to also track views.
    Set Lead GUID: this allows you to pass a customer/lead ID from your own system to the tracker – make sure to replace {Your User ID} with the relevant ID from your system. You must also compute and include your own GUID-Secret.
    including GUID-Contact: if including a GUID, you can also pass the email address of your user in {Your User Email}

    Note: if you enable any of these options, you should add the corresponding code snippet to the main Web Tracker code OR your own AJAX callbacks, if applicable.

  3. Copy the Web Tracker code, including the optional code snippets, and place into your website’s HTML, just before the closing body tag.

Your Web Tracker is now collecting lead data.

Important: when you include the optional Lead GUID, you must also pass a GUID-Secret. This is a SHA256-Base64 hash which you generate based on:

Lead GUID + contact email + your secret salt   IF   including GUID-Contact is set to Yes.

Lead GUID + your secret salt   IF   including GUID-Contact is set to No.

You should set your secret salt under Settings > Advanced > User > tracker.guid.secret.salt or Settings > Advanced > Project > tracker.guid.secret.salt.
