Social Post Throttling

Social posts on Womplify can be either scheduled for a specific date and time, or they can be defined as Auto-Posts which have no defined schedule, or they can be both. Typically you would define Filler type posts as Auto-Post and they would be posted in between your scheduled posts to fill the gaps.

Although auto-posts do not have a specific date and time defined, you can set up a throttling schedule which can be used to publish more posts at certain times of the day, and at other times fewer or even no posts at all. So for example you could post more often during peak hours, or you could prevent any posting at the weekends.

In this article you will learn how to configure a social post throttle schedule.

To configure social post throttling, you will need:

  • An account on a supported social network – currently Twitter, Facebook and Tumblr.
  • An active connection in your Womplify account for each social network you want to post on.

How to Configure Your Social Post Throttle

Note: post throttling does NOT apply to scheduled posts which ALWAYS go out on the date and time they are scheduled for.

To define your throttle schedule:

  1. On the left menu, click Scheduler, then Scheduler Setup and then Content Posts (see Figure 1).

    Figure 1. Social Post Throttle.

  2. In the Day/Week Throttle table:
    – In the Hour columns and Day rows, enter a number to indicate amount of posts allowed in that hour and day of week.
    – Or use the Def row to set default hourly throttle for the entire week..
  3. Click Save Changes.

Your new social post throttle settings will be applied from the next hour.
